A Gold Coast three-piece dealing in shoegazey indie pop with an extra helping of tropical-surf indie rock, BUSINESS. first formed around this time last year.
Earlier this year, they released their debut EP 'Like You' showcasing sunshine-filled melodies and honest lyricism.Ahead of their next EP, titled 'A Weekend At Finn's' that's scheduled for release next month (15 October), the lads have dropped their newest single 'I Need Another Plan' – a track about wanting to start over and be better.
"This song is a wish to go to another place, where I can start over and be a better man," frontman Elijah Hughes says.
Elijah and band mates Regan Hickey (guitar, bass) and Callum Watson (drums) sit down for a quick chat about music and other fun stuff.
Who is... We are BUSINESS. A Gold Coast indie band formed in August last year. We met through our school music class and started jamming in our rooms just for the fun of it until we decided we wanted to take things more seriously and release some music.
We sound like... We'd like to think we sound like a decent blend of DMAs and Two Door Cinema Club.
Our first gig was... We opened at BBQ Bazaar for Bella Paton and Ruby Jo earlier this year.
When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... We settled on the name a month or so after we finished our first song, but we wanted to make sure it was relevant to the aesthetic we wanted to build on.
In the studio we usually... We've only been to a studio once; we mostly just record in our bedrooms to try and keep the DIY vibe.
If we could tour with anyone... We'd love to tour with Mac DeMarco because his live shows go hard.
Social media is... A good way to connect with people when used in moderation.
My favourite app at the moment is... Regan & Eli: Spotify because all we do is listen to music. Callum: Clash Royale because he's a gamer.
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... We played a gig recently and literally everything that could go wrong, went wrong. You don't want to know.
Life on the road can be... When we know, you'll be the first to know.
If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... A pool table, a case of Byron Bay Lager, a skipping rope and Brian To'o holding a JBL Boombox blasting drill.
The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was... We were walking through Fortitude Valley to set up for a gig and someone threatened to shoot us. True story.
What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... Morgan Freeman, enough said.
If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? We'd live in London, half because of the freedom (RIP COVID) and half because of the music scene.
Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... 1: Queen Elizabeth II because she's the QUEEN. 2: Jordan Belfort because he's a mad man. 3: Mike Tyson because we need someone to defend us.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Chicken pesto pasta.
When it comes to pets are you a lover or hater of our furry friends? We love animals, except Eli has a genuine fear of Regan's dog.

What's the one chore you dislike the most? Washing dishes; feel bad for the sink in the house we wrote our last EP at.
Do you have any phobias... Yes, Eli is terrified of Regan's dog.
Would you ever partake in a reality show? No, there's nothing real about them.
If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? Callum and Eli forgetting to bring stuff to a gig = stress for Regan. It's not even a prank anymore.
