From Argentina via Mexico backflipping around the globe for their debut visit to Australia… Frikstailers (pronounced ‘freak-stylers’) rose from the eclectic Buenos Aires cumbia scene, turning the genre on its head with their unique style.
Who is Frikstailers... We are a tropical-electronica producer duo from Argentina (based now in Mexico). We started eight years ago and have been playing in Europe, USA and Latin-America non-stop since then.
Our first gig was... At the afterparty of a festival in Córdoba (Argentina) called Niu Fest.
When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... It came out naturally after the first couple of tunes we produced. We thought, ‘hey, this sounds really freestyle and freaky at the same time’, and then we choose to write it in a very Argentinian way.
In the studio we usually... Wait for the cosmos to give us a message to get inspired and aligned.
If we could tour with anyone... It would be with Modeselektor, Chancha Via Circuito, Los Reyes de la Milanga and Dengue Dengue Dengue.
Social media is... A tool.
My favourite app at the moment is... SkyAlert. It lets us know when an earthquake is going to happen in Mexico with an anticipation of about a minute... too many earthquakes in the last four years there.
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time… When all our gear fell off the stage because we didn’t realise we were pushing the table while playing and dancing.
Life on the road can be… Refreshing for your mind. You learn how to communicate with any kind of human being.
If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains… Percussions, percussions and more percussions [sic].
The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was… Panama… well... it was a Halloween party, haha!
What famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... President of Uruguay Pepe Mujica, because he represents most of the things we believe in.

The last time we saw the inside of a gym was… Seven months ago, just to use the swimming pool.
What's the one chore you dislike the most? Cleaning the house. It gets dirty again so quickly with the polluted air of Mexico City.
Do you have any phobias... Not really.
Would you ever partake in a reality show? Maybe ‘Masterchef’, but just to eat everything our competitors prepare… we love food.
If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? This would be a nice one for our friends, Schlachthofbronx’.
