Introducing Electronic, Indie Pop Duo Marneux

Marneux's debut single is titled 'Can You Feel It'.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Raised on Michael Jackson, Prince and Queen, Marneux treat listeners to their harmonious verses, rich melodies and catchy choruses, as showcased by their bright, effervescent debut single 'Can You Feel It'.

Comprised of twin brothers Moses and Arona Finau, after years of experience performing covers and originals around NSW, they decided earlier this year to focus on their own music.

'Can You Feel It' encapsulates that feeling with the song celebrating that time in your life when you are ready to embrace it all, all the nervous excitement and self-belief.

"In every major event you are about to face in life, remember to embrace it and conquer all that stand in your way," Arona says.

Who is Marneux... An indie pop, dance duo from Sydney formed in 2020 by twin brothers Arona and Moses.

We sound like... (Moses) We've played some tracks to a few close mates of ours and even they couldn't pick it out. We've always strived to have our own, unique sound. If we were to pick, we'd have to say a mix of Imagine Dragons, Tame Impala, a touch of 21 Pilots and a teaspoon of the King Of Pop, MJ.

Our first gig was... (Moses) Our first gig together was at the Bridge Hotel in Rozelle, an infamous spot for live bands. What a memorable night.

When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... (Moses) Arona pretty much named our group after my daughter Marlie. In French, it's spelt 'Marneux', so for me no questions asked; I was pretty wrapped, haha.

In the studio we usually... (Arona) – working from home couldn't be any better, except for when my partner is yelling from the front lounge to keep it down due to the hard thumping on the keys haha!

(Moses) – When it comes to mixing, we sit down with our engineer (Tim Carr - Gurrumul, Jay Z, Julia Stone) and tend to always restructure the track going back and forth until you find Arona vomiting from excitement and that's how I know we're making progress, haha.

If we could tour with anyone... (Moses) We always dreamed to tour with our fellow Aussie artists before anything. Artists like Tame Impala , Midnight Juggernauts, Art vs Science, The Presets, Cut Copy and many more kick-ass artists; too many to mention.

Social media is... (Moses) A way to connect with our fans, and with all the tech available nowadays it's so bloody useful and makes life a lot hella easier.

My favourite app at the moment... (Moses) Would have to be TikTok 'cause of all the over dramatic, dumb, cringeworthy videos out there. You gotta have an all-round humour like us.

To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... (Moses) When we were extremely late to one gig, so Arona begged a fellow drummer to use his drum kit for our set and I had to use some bar stools for my keyboard stand. SMH!

Life on the road can be... (Arona) The best! I find that this is where our best melodies are written.

If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... (Arona) Wouldn't ask for much, perhaps a wicked sense of humour and positive attitude.

The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was... (Moses) Having to sneak our church band gear pass our dad's room for a Saturday night gig, haha!

What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... (Moses) Kevin Hart. Can you imagine!?

Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... (Moses) Russell Crowe – we'd plead for him repeat Maximus lines from 'Gladiator' on the dinner table and Jamie Fox – he's one bloke we couldn't catch our breath from all the laughs.

(Arona) Selena! For one, she's been our childhood crush haha, and her sweet tunes would seriously have us squeal like mice. Rest in peace beautiful angel!

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? (Moses) Mate, we'll dish you fellas up our favourite: Pig head and trotters, haha! Nah. PIZZA is on us.

No matter the expense, send me a case of... (Moses) Yes sir, a case Bundy Red Rum! (Arona) Anything that takes me to a karaoke bar.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... (Moses) What's inside of the gym? (Arona) Daily routine, this fella.

What's the one chore you dislike the most? (Moses) Drying the dishes!

Do you have any phobias? (Arona) Spiders. As a kid, I remember my dad almost lost control of the car when a huntsman climbed up my leg in the passenger seat and he just flipped it.

Would you ever partake in a reality show? If so, what type? (Moses) 'The Amazing Race' or 'Survivor'. Hands down, last men standing. (Arona) We would make for a wicked judge on 'The Voice'.

If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? (Arona) Stevie; he showed me a trick he believed was magic binding our hands to open and close quickly only to end up with his boogey in my hands! My revenge? After all this is over, I'm going to show the same trick to his kids, hehe.
