A four-piece rock & roll band from Brisbane, Electric Suede combine the brutality of punk with the sonic groove of funk to deliver a rock & roll sound that will have you moving and shaking for hours on end.
With influences of the band including: The Hellacopters, The Ramones and Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Chic, say hello to Electric Suede.
Who is Electric Suede... We're a rock & roll band from Brisbane. We all met at university last year and decided to join forces in pure Planeteer style to create the blue-skinned, green-haired hero that is Electric Suede.
We sound like... A combination of Led Zeppelin and The Ramones with a touch of Nile Rogers' funky guitar style.
Our first gig was… At the Archive Beer Boutique for a competition held by Audrey’s Music Shop in West End. We didn’t win but we got some free beers. Pretty cool, right?
When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... Richard (Butler, singer) thought of the name before the band's conception. The band was originally going to be called Electric Sweat (named after a Mooney Suzuki song), but realised that sweat would sound gross, so the name was changed to suede.
In the studio we usually… Hire actual musicians to record for us while we go out and take all the credit.
If we could tour with anyone... Wolfmother. Also if Andrew Stockdale is reading this, please reply to Kye’s Facebook messages!
Social media is... A great way to brainwash our followers through a series of subliminal messages hidden within our posts.
My favourite app at the moment is... The Gmail app is pretty sick.
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... Henry broke two strings on his guitar on stage, so he had to use Richard’s. The embarrassing part of this story is Richard trying to sing without his guitar, defs a 'you had to be there' thing.
Life on the road can be... Difficult because only one of us drives.
If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... Several jars of smooth peanut butter, some refresher towelettes and movies that usually involve the protagonist walking away from an explosion.
The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was... Travelling in the back of Henry's (combo) van to a gig. It wasn’t that scary but it could have gotten pretty out of hand.
What celebrity/famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... Larry Emdur. Could you imagine him introducing us on stage one by one just like on 'The Price is Right?' “Come on down!”
Larry Emdur
Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Nicolas Cage, Nicolas Coppola, and who's that guy from 'Con Air'?
That guy from 'Con Air'
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Steamed Hams!
No matter the expense, send me a case of... Some non ‘energised’ Mountain Dew if that still exists.
The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... Gym?!?
What's the one chore you dislike the most? Anything that involves being in the sun for more than five minutes.
Do you have any phobias... please explain? Melophobia. Music scares the shit out of us!
Would you ever partake in a reality show? If so, what type? Came across one called 'Face Off' on Google. Don’t know what it’s about but if it’s anything like the movie, we’re keen.
If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? We don’t generally target anyone in particular, but if we were to prank someone it would probably involve mixing up their cutlery or putting non-recyclables in their recycling. Wait till you see the looks on their faces!
