Introducing Brisbane Psych Punk Rockers TRIPSITTA

TRIPSITTA are a punk-rock band from Brisbane.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Uni mates TRIPSITTA have a raw energy to them.

Their debut single, 'The Valley', is out now and sees the band coming out of the gates firing, with an energetic, pump-up anthem about the chaos that is the music scene in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.

"'The Valley' is a tribute to the place we go when the world gets a little too f...ed for us," lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Jack Williams says.

"The place we go to blow off steam with our mates and have a night where the shenanigans create life-long memories and stories that will last for years."

Who is TRIPSITTA... We all met through uni. Andy and I (Jack) started jamming together, after I wanted to change my direction in writing. We all started jamming together over the new sound and TRIPSITTA was born almost instantly.

We sound like... Alex Lahey crossed with Good Boy and Dune Rats if 'Scott Green' was their only song. Well... that's the vibe we bring to our shows.

Our first gig was... at Greaser Bar (Fortitude Valley, Brisbane). It was such a great show. We packed it out. Twas extremely sweaty and extra greasy.

When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision? Well, we made it a party kinda like a naming ceremony but with more beer and things. There were about five names that we were looking at, but TRIPSITTA won in the end.

In the studio we usually have a... B A L L. Every time we are there it's always a great experience, especially since we are working with Brock Weston (Bugs). We recently finished recording our next single with him.

If we could tour with anyone... Dune Rats for sure. We love the energy they have on and off stage. We would have a ball with them.

Social media is... Amazing in small doses and F...ED in large doses.

Our favourite app at the moment is... Would have to say Tinder 'cause they blocked us.

To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... One show at Tomcat (We love you Tomcat ).

We were playing 'Mr Blue Sky' by ELO and we all totally forgot how it started. So for about a minute we just played the first chord over and over. The crowd had no idea though; they thought it was this massive build-up and they were going nuts, but we were just looking at each other going WTF, how does this even go. We remembered eventually and it was probably one of our best versions of it to date.

Life on the road can be... Like Centrelink – everyone's pissed and broke.

The most scary scenario I've found myself in, was... I wouldn't say this is a scary scenario. It's just insane.

Andy and I were at a Jungle Love music festival after playing a show and we found ourselves in the most wacky, insane scene from a dream. We somehow had wandered into an outdoor church where people were getting married with their friends, sometimes four people getting married at a time by a guy dressed as Jesus.

At the same time an Aborignal guy in full traditional paints was walking around the ceremonial blessing everyone with a branch of gum leaves dipped in a bucket of VB. I remember looking to my right and seeing Andy on a Donald Duck playground ride rocking back and forth and thinking how hell did we get here.

What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... Eric Andre for sure.

Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Julian, Ricky and Bubbles from 'Trailer Park Boys'. We would have an adventure and a half.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Tony's PHAT pasta (Jack's).

No matter the expense, send me a case of... Select Vat Bundy Rum, YES please!

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was. Today! Gotta be healthy, but those cheeseburgers though.

What's the one chore you dislike the most? Cleaning the band house after a TRIPSITTA BBQ.

Do you have any phobias... please explain? Andy has a massive fear of lizards. I've chased him out of the house and down a street with my bearded dragon.

Would you ever partake in a reality show? Maybe not reality shows but a mockumentary! We would totally be a guest on 'Trailer Park Boys' 100 per cent.

If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? Our friends Kieran and Grant, and we would rock up at their place during their sesh and flash red and blue lights, and in a megaphone yell: "Queensland police you are completely surrounded!"
