A Brisbane-based solo artist who first began composing music six years ago, releasing his first song in 2019, Lucas Mapstone continues to explore the realms of progressive rock.
His latest creation is 'Astray', a track that voices Mapstone's own frustrations with modern society's tendency to bury their collective head in the sand when reality sets in."The lyrics came to me at the very last moment of the recording process, with everything else being finalised for sometime before I could settle on the theme," Lucas says.
"This song was also in ways a homage to all of my music that has come before, a mixture of orchestral rock and modern rock influences."
Who is Lucas Mapstone... I've been writing music for about 6 years and I'm 24 years old. 'Astray' is the fifth song in my discography.
I sound like... Muse and Royal Blood have been huge influences to me, as well as bands like Twenty One pilots, Tame Impala and most recently Lil Nas X.
My first gig is... Yet to be played. The goal this year is to play my first ever gig. I've got stage fright.
In the studio I usually... It's nearly always just Casper (my amazing producer) and myself. I bring the songs to him and we build upon them piece by piece.
If I could tour with anyone... Muse or Twenty One Pilots.
Social media is... Toxic but at times charming.
My favourite app at the moment is... FuelMapAustralia because fuel is so expensive right now and I need the cheapest price, haha.
To date, my most embarrassing moment was the time... Headbutting my lead guitarist's guitar in a school performance (I have a photo of it).
Life on the road can be... Tiring.

The most scary scenario I've found myself in, was... Making coffee for Wally Lewis (rugby league legend) was pretty scary.
