Introducing Australian Pop Singer-Songwriter Xaysha

Xaysha's new single is titled 'What They Say'.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

After the release of her debut single ('Take Me Back') earlier this year, Australian singer-songwriter Xaysha returns with 'What They Say'.

Tight beats, loveable lyrics and a vibe that is both affectionate and exciting, 'What They Say' is for fans of Ava Max and Rita Ora.

"For all those ladies out there who struggle to find that perfect guy, this is the tune for you," Xaysha says about 'What They Say'.

"Bringing every quote I have gotten in my experience of the dating world to life in this relatable, catchy bop. Encouraging women to brush it off, laugh and move on, so he knows what he is missing."

Who is Xaysha? Born in the beautifully quiet, suburban Newcastle. I began to enjoy singing at the young age of three and did my very first performance on stage at four years old.

Growing older I then began to write songs being heavily influenced by my dad (who was also a musician). I then went on to perform overseas, on cruise ships and worked with some incredible talents around the world including Mama J (Justin Bieber's vocal coach) and big names at EMI.

Discovering my artistry developed over time and took practice. Throughout my experiences I believe they really taught and shaped me into the independent, motivated woman I am – not afraid to say what I want, do what I think and sing what I feel.

I sound like… Dua Lipa meets Hailee Steinfeld vs Anne-Marie in a relatable catchy bop.

My first gig was... My first performance of my original song was on radio at 17 years old.

When did you settle on the artistic name... My artist name was a challenge. I did rebrand to the name I have now as I wanted a name that resonated with me and represented me as a person. Xaysha to me feels powerful, ambitious and unstoppable. Exactly how I feel.

In the studio I usually... Create concepts that resonate with how I am feeling. Magnify a catchy melody and vibe with it.

If I could tour with anyone... Touring is such a huge opportunity. Dua Lipa would be up there alongside Dan + Shay, Rita Ora and Bruno Mars (his show is insane).

My favourite app at the moment is... Breath – I love meditation.

To date, my most embarrassing moment was the time... I dyed my hair for a guy that I didn't know was colour blind.

Life on the road can be... Hectic, but adventure is right up my alley.

If you'll have me on your bill, all I ask is that our rider contains... Wine, wine, wine.

The most scary scenario I've found myself in, was... Getting stuck in a different country by myself.

What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be your spokesperson? Good question.

Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Ian Somerhalder – he is my fave. James Franco – also my fave. Marshmello – to pick his brains about production.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Tacooossss.

No matter the expense, send me a case of… Cheese.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... Today. On my friend's story.

What's the one chore you dislike the most? Putting clothes away.

Do you have any phobias... I hate spiders; I just hate spiders.

Would you ever partake in a reality show? Hmmm, yeah probably for fun.

If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? My best friend. I would put fake tan on her face when she was asleep.
