South West WA artist, Lemon Myrtle's lyrics celebrate community, explore fear and expose human warmth.

With an acoustic and the slow wisdom of the bush, she seeks out wonder, intrigue, connection and good times. For fans of Julia Stone, Carla Geneve and Courtney Barnett.

Who is Lemon Myrtle... At the moment my husband and brother are lemons too, which has been fun. I'm not sure if I wanna go solo or be in a girl band – still very much in seed form as an artist which is always entertaining, but luurrvingg it for now.

We sound like... If good times and the smell after the rain had a baby, I think we're it.

Our first gig was... Nannup Music Festival 2021 is actually gonna be our first real gig, which is crazyyyy! We're pumped out of our minds.

I released my first EP back in March, which we did a lil launch for at the coffee shop where my brother and I work. It was super intimate and wholesome. I'm still tryna find enough room to put all my gratitude.

When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... Right before I recorded my EP I think, after about two hours of googling name ideas I just started thinking about stuff I like.

I really love the smell and taste of lemon myrtle and it's medicinal too, so good for you, which I want my songs to be.

In the studio I usually... I've been in a studio twice, so I don't know if I could say I usually do anything. I met with James Newhouse in his mad home studio. It's such a cool experience and I'm so thankful to have met James and worked with him on my EP, and again on my new single coming 22 January.

If I could tour with anyone... It'd be Jacob Collier.

Social media is... Such a multifaceted wonder. It really depends how you hold it I think – it can be a destructive weapon, and it can be a warm hug that wraps around the world, connecting us all. It's endlessly intriguing to me, I love discussing it.

My favourite app at the moment is... Maps haha! My sense of direction is truly below average and I'm forever trying to find some form of orientation. Also voice memos. It's a magic idea-catcher that fits in my pocket.

The most scary scenario I've found myself in, was... Honestly, in a musical sense, choosing to support myself and act like I value what I have to bring. Terrifying.

What celebrity would you love to be spokesperson of the band? Jacob Collierrrr! I love his energy and approach SOOO MUUUCH. He's this whack whirlwind of musical nutrition and creativity and energy, always collaborating, sharing, making.

If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? Ooh, if we're talking cities it'd be Istanbul or Rio de Janeiro – seaside party time.

Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Nina Simone, Thelma Plum, and Brendan Pang teaching us how to make dumplings. Assuming Jacob Collier is already at the party...

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Roast veggies.

No matter the expense, send me a case of... Chocolate-coated frozen bananas from Morel's! If you know, you know.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... Gyms have insides?

What's the one chore you dislike the most? Slug relocation.

Do you have any phobias? Not to my knowledge. I mean, axolotls are petrifying but that's rational, right?

Would you ever partake in a reality show? No ma'am. Reality TV's trash.

If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? Wow that sounds brutal, I think I'd give them a hug instead.

Lemon Myrtle plays 2021 Nannup Music Festival (WA), which runs 26 February to 1 March.
