Introducing Alternative Rockers Pinstripe

Pinstripe are an alternative rock band from Albany, Western Australia.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

This year has seen Western Australian band Pinstripe release their debut single 'Everglow' (that has been streamed 300k on Spotify), garnering two nominations at the WAM Song Of The Year Awards in the process.

Now the melodic alternative rockers from Albany have taken the covers of their sophomore single, 'You And I', which was mixed and mastered in London by Grammy Award-winning engineer James Auwarter (Adam Levine, John Legend, Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna).

The track explores the light and dark sides of a relationship, with the accompanying music video directed by cinematographer Christian Kennedy.

Here, the band's bass player Tim Jeffs fills in a few blanks about the band as well as his favourite app, what he'd cook us for dinner and the best place for an early morning feed.

Who is... We are Pinstripe from Albany, Western Australia. Have been around for many years now, but cemented the current line-up three years ago, and thanks to the monumental calamity which is the coronavirus epidemic, found an opportunity to really concentrate on our original tunes and bring to them to the forefront. And here we are.

We sound like... We definitely sound like us. Hard rocking, soaring melodies, big vocals, big production and orchestration. We never really wanted to sound like anyone in particular, we just let the music guide our path.

Our first gig was... The band first really got together for a Beyond Blue benefit concert at the Sterling Club in Albany.

When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... It's just a name. Hopefully one day we can make it something cool.

In the studio we usually... The songwriting is usually quite fast paced, and then the refinement takes place. We are lucky enough to be able to do most of our production, so if the ideas are running hot we can get them down nice and quick. Process works great for us.

If we could tour with anyone... Probably the Foo Fighters. It would be super fun, and you know the catering would be first class.

Social media is... Integral.

My favourite app at the moment is... Kick The Buddy. Love smashing that little dude with bombs.

Life on the road can be... Awesome. There are of course many ups and downs when touring, but gigs are the whole reason that we do this.

If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... Rum. No great story starts with a glass of milk.

What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... Christopher Walken. Just because I could listen to that man say anything.

If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? Anywhere closer to the equator than Albany.

Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Will Ferrell, Jack Black and Sam Simmons. You would have absolutely no idea what was going to happen next.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Jamie Oliver's five-spice chicken and sweet chili rice. That sh.t is delicious.

When it comes to pets are you a lover or hater of our furry friends? How could you hate that widdle face.

No matter the expense, send me a case of... Smaller cases.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... You're asking the wrong dude.

Do you have any phobias... Being late. Can't relax until the show is begun.

Would you ever partake in a reality show? Maybe 'The Masked Singer'. I think that would be better for the audience.

If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? Our drummer Paul. Plunger. Anywhere, anytime.

Best local takeaway joint for a 2am feed that will leave you with a food coma? My house. I get creative at 2am.

Which fictional character best describes your personality? Deadpool. Not so much for the violence, but definitely for the sarcasm.

Last show you binge-watched? 'Letterkenny'. Too good.
