Adelaide-based DJ-producer INSTNKT aka Sean Cassidy is hosting WAY (We Are Young), an all-ages event celebrating some of Adelaide's emerging electronic artists.
“WAY is a celebration of Adelaide's best talents on the decks. We’re trying to bring together some of the best coming out at the moment,” Sean says.
A number of established artists will feature at WAY as well as Sean himself. “We’ve got Dimatik – who’s currently doing massive things with Timmy Trumpet and things like that internationally – and local artists such as myself to really bring together the gig and the community of EDM in Adelaide,” he says.
WAY will take place at the Northern Sound System in Elizabeth, which Sean says is the perfect place for young music makers to join together. “The venue's called the Northern Sound System.
"It's a really great place for local producers to come together and book studio facilities; it's a great community for collaborations,” Sean says.
This is the second time the event will be held, with the first event a success. “We held the same event last year in April with a few different headliners and things like that,” Sean says.
“That was an under 18s last year and that went down really well.”
This year's event is all ages. The lack of electronic music in Adelaide inspired Sean to create WAY. “In Adelaide, there's not much of a producer or EDM scene at the moment. I'd like to show the next generation what it's really like,” he says.
Sean says his love for electronic music was sparked after attending an under-age music festival a few years ago. “I went to a under-age music festival called Remember The Days when I was 14 and from there I really got inspired from the music that I heard and what I saw, so I wanted to do it myself.”
Sean says he has a number of songs he is set to release throughout the rest of this year. “I've got a few songs at the moment I'm setting to release at the event.
“I've also got a few collobrations happening aswell. I have a set shedule that I'm going to push out seven songs by the end of the year and hopefully by that time I will be able to perform them in a recidency.”
Being fairly new to the music scene, Sean has his goals set high with the hope that one day his music will touch the ears of people all around the world. “I want to put my orginal spin and unquie style onto existing styles such as trap and EDM and the main, big-room stuff,” he says.
“I have a different style I want to introduce to the world and bring people together and I see myself making music for people all over the world to listen to one day.”
