Indie Record Labels Invited To Partake In Australian Independent Music Market Survey

The Australian Independent Music Market Survey will inform an updated AIR Share Report on the state of Australia's independent music sector.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

All independent record labels and distributors are being invited to partake in the next iteration of the 'Australian Independent Music Market Survey', released by the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR).

Deloitte Access Economics will once again take carriage of conducting the survey, which informs the AIR Share report. The AIR Share report aims to quantify the market share of the independent sector of the recording industry and highlight the role that it plays in society.

This survey was originally run in 2017 and informed the first AIR Share report. As a result of the survey, the Deloitte Access Economics report found that the Independent market accounted for 30% of the total Australian music market (or $155 million in 2014-15).

AIR is asking independent record labels and distributors in the industry to complete a new survey. The new data will inform an updated report, quantifying the size and growth of the independent market.

The AIR 'Australian Independent Music Market Survey' is open now until 1 October. To participate in the survey, click here.
