In Tune With RTRFM: Perth Community Radio Station's July News

Need to charge your weekday morning? Well grab RTRFM’s lil’ mixtape vibe with breakfast presenter Caitlin Nienaber’s top 5 songs to wake up to.

Each weekday morning, Caitlin gets up before the sun to bring you Breakfast with Caitlin; a vast selection of quality tunes and good chats with all manner of mates. You better believe she knows the best songs to wake up to.

1. Methyl Ethel - 'Twilight Driving'

Although the idea of having two coffees for breakfast fills me with anxiety this song beautifully captures some classic West Australian iconography.

2. Silentjay & Jace XL - 'Just Waking Up'

This track is about not setting an alarm, sleeping in and getting laid and unfortunately in no way accurately depicts my life. This Melbourne neo-soul R&B dream team and their mini-album 'Sacrifice' is a firm favourite of mine.

3. Jade Imagine - 'Stay Awake'

I’m so addicted to Jade Imagine’s new EP. There’s something in the fuzz and Jade McInally’s disengaged, vocal style that so accurately captures the feeling of traipsing through the day after a rubbish night’s sleep.

4. Prince - 'Starfish & Coffee'

My all-time favourite Prince song ever about a dream girl who eats a fantasy breakfast involving the titular ingredients as well as maple syrup, jam, butterscotch clouds, a tangerine and a side order of ham.

5. The Fruity Whites - 'Getting It Together'

There’s nothing quite like waking up early in the morning with the whole day stretching out in front of you and the optimistic feeling like you might actually get stuff done. Never happens though.

The most played tracks on RTRFM in May

  • Simone & Girlfunkle - 'Fight On'
  • Dianas - 'Heart Of Me'
  • Erasers - 'Fault Lines Pt. 2'
  • The Spring Peaks - 'No Curfew'
  • Ryan Beno - 'Anna Karenin'
