What a year it has been. 2018 was full of music, events and people around Perth.
We started off 2018 at Rosemount Hotel for RTRFM’s Distant Murmurs on 27 January, our own local music festival.
The Pleasure Craft saw intimate performances at the Pleasure Garden at Fringe World throughout February, giving a moment of peace for some in the wild ocean of Fringe.
Harbour Sundays returned at the WA Maritime Museum with acts including Jacob Diamond and The Kat Wilson Trio bringing out the locals to sit back on the balcony with a drink to watch the sun set.
The 25th anniversary of In The Pines had a killer line-up of talented WA musicians including Stella Donnelly, Abbe May, Demon Days and Terrible Signal, which brought crowds from all around to UWA in April.
The Fremantle Winter Music Festival was a huge success – a major line-up played across seven venues, making North Freo a buzzing hub on a cold winter's night in June.
We even brought back Many Styles, an all-day dance party at Si Paradiso in November for all the party kids in Perth.
In August we had a wonderful Radiothon, raising money for the station and also hosting opening and closing parties in the city. Thank you to all who subscribed this year and don’t forget to get involved again in 2019.
In July we said farewell to our Breakfast presenter Caitlin Neinaber and welcomed Taylah Strano to RTRFM. Taylah has brought so much to the station already and we can’t wait to see what she’s got in store for us this year.
And at the end of 2018, our General Manager Stu MacLeod stepped down his role at RTRFM and in his place Karen Lee has been appointed the position of the station’s new GM. Karen will start with us in the new year.
And it doesn’t stop there. Don’t sit down yet because we’ve got a whole bunch of plans for 2019.
One of RTRFM’s biggest events of the year, Distant Murmurs is returning to the Rosemount Hotel 19 January to showcase some of the best music Western Australia has to offer including Boat Show, Moonlighter, Wooly Mammoth and Segue, as well as Luluc from Brooklyn, NYC.
So grab your tickets over at the RTRFM website and kick off the new year in North Perth with your mates and a whole lot of great, local music.
We are also bringing back Harbour Sundays 2019 in February for your perfect Sunday night, local music fix at one of Perth’s most picturesque venues – the Western Australian Maritime Museum. Catch the likes of Salary, Simone & Girlfunkle and The Odette Mercy Trio to name a few over four Sundays throughout February.
There’ll be whole bunch of local music, DJs, drinks and the best spot in Perth to watch the sun go down. And best of all... it's free.
Here’s to another cracking year of tunes, gigs and more with your Sound Alternative, RTRFM 92.1.
