A man with a valid ticket has been turned away from a The Vaccines show in North Wales for not knowing enough about the band.
Wrexham University student Andy Bellis was refused entry to Venue Cymru because he couldn't name the band's frontman or either of their two albums. Which, to be fair to Bellis, is a test that loads of Vaccines fans would probably fail — who listens to albums anymore, or knows the name of every member of every band they like?
The venue claims it tested patrons because there were pickpockets working in the area, and they didn't want their patrons to be robbed. Six people failed the test and were refused admission, and another two were ejected from the building. However, a spokesperson for the venue admitted that blocking Bellis was a mistake, saying that "one or two genuine visitors may have been refused admission and we apologise that they missed the event and full refunds are being given."
Of course, the real question is whether or not anybody's pockets got picked during the Vaccines show — because if not, maybe they found their man after all.
