One of Australia's seminal bands, ICEHOUSE will perform a special, one-off concert on the steps of Sydney Opera House this summer.
Led by frontman Iva Davies, last year ICEHOUSE celebrated the 40th anniversary of their iconic Australian classic 'Great Southern Land' with a series of live shows across the country. After reconnecting with fans, the Sydney concert is billed as 'promising an unforgettable and uniquely Australian experience'.
The Sydney Opera House also has a special connection with Davies. "The band and I are greatly looking forward to performing at Sydney Opera House in December," he says.
"Having such a great line-up with Sneaky Sound System and Karen Lee Andrews is going to make it a fun evening down on Sydney Harbour.
"I'm also glad that we will perform in the 50th anniversary year of Sydney Opera House with which I personally have a long history, having played in an orchestra in July 1973 at the first performances in the then-new building of two operas, Sitsky's 'Fall Of The House Of Usher' and Penberthy's 'Dalgarie'.
"In addition to being the first operas ever performed at Sydney Opera House, these were very special events as the operas were created by Australian composers and librettists and performed by Australian musicians and singers.
"I look forward to performing yet again at Sydney Opera House and bringing ICEHOUSE's music to the forecourt."
With a catalogue rich with Aussie bangers, ICEHOUSE classics include the aforementioned (and unofficial national anthem) 'Great Southern Land' as well as 'Electric Blue', 'Crazy', 'Hey Little Girl', 'No Promises', My Obsession' and 'Nothing Too Serious'. The band have released eight Top 10 albums and over thirty Top 40 singles.
Joining ICEHOUSE will be Australian dance royalty Sneaky Sound System ('UFO', 'Pictures' and 'I Love It'), the duo of vocalist Miss Connie and DJ-producer Angus McDonald whose newest single is a collab with legendary producer John Dahlbäck, 'Fire Keeps Burning'.
Soul-gospel singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Karen Lee Andrews will also perform.
Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 8 September.
