The ultimate Gen X music spectacular brings all the glitz and glamour of the '80s to the Gold Coast this August courtesy of TV music icon Ian 'Dicko' Dickson.
Dicko is donning his ringmaster tails and stepping back into the spotlight to present the greatest '80s gig ever… well, almost.
Imagine the biggest line-up of '80s icons ever assembled - Cher and David Bowie rubbing shoulders with the likes of Queen, Tina Turner, U2, Bryan Adams, Cyndi Lauper and Duran Duran; Elton John sharing billing with Crowded House, Hall & Oates, Kylie Minogue and Bon Jovi.
Well, dig out the denim and stock up on hairspray because Almost The Greatest Gig On Earth all brings together the very best tribute acts with some secret celebrity guests to create the biggest '80s musical extravaganza ever seen - a big, beautiful outdoor festival with big production values, big fireworks and only the biggest songs of the decade. Not to mention big hair, big shoulder pads and big fun.
What started innocently enough as a search to curate a Spotify playlist for the Greatest '80s Gig Ever has bloomed into an exciting, brand-new festival for Australian music lovers that completely recreates the '80s to celebrate the energy and showmanship of the music industry's undisputed party decade.
"This event is my passion," Dicko says.
"It`s the result of years of dreaming and planning and ultimately it`s about creating the best possible musical experience that I could ever want to attend as a music tragic. I want a day out with my mates where we know every song, where every melody sparks a memory that makes us feel totally alive."
Hosted by Dicko, this is no run-of-the-mill covers band belting out off-key Queen or butchering Bon Jovi; this is the big daddy of all tribute shows featuring an ensemble of performers so good you might say, they're simply the best.
"This is a show where only the best tribute acts come together with Australia`s finest singers and musicians to breathe life into the biggest songs of the '80s in a massive production at an iconic venue all on one magical day."
