It feels like forever, but Blink 182 have their seventh studio album in the works!
Frontman, Tom DeLonge, announced the exciting news on his Instagram early this morning. The throwback pic shows the boys in fine-form followed by the confirmation we've been waiting for: 'Rehearsals start today… And yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink'.
Producing an EP 'Dogs Eating Dogs' in 2012, we haven't seen a studio length album from the band since 'Neighborhoods' which they released way back in 2011. Chatting with MTV News last September, DeLonge and bassist, Mark Hoppus, talked about a follow-up to their LP saying “once we start, it moves".
“It’s like painting, you know? You’ve just got to start with that first brushstroke, and get your clothes off, and get the other person’s clothes off, get a little bit of feces, smear it around. Just get going,” DeLonge said. Probably not the best analogy, but you get the point.
Along with touring as a band, the pop-punk gods have also been busy with their own side projects. DeLonge has been working with his other band, Angels And Airwaves, while Hoppus has started up a new project, Nothing And Nobody. And everyone's favourite go-to drummer, the tatted-up Travis Barker, has recently appeared in Demi Lovato's new music video, 'Don't Care'.
So while I won't be buying a feces smeared painting by DeLonge anytime soon, I can't wait to get my hands on their new musical baby when it's done.
