Howzat!? 'Cricket The Musical' Brings To Life The Sport's Controversy Moments In Pantomime

Denis Carnahan's 'Cricket The Musical' plays Memo Music Hall (Melbourne) 10 February.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

As Aussies pad up for another sweltering summer, applying zinc cream to noses and lips while donning a floppy hat and swatting away flies and mozzies, musical sports satirist Denis Carnahan presents 'Cricket The Musical'.

A game already bloated with controversy, pantomime, heroes and villains, cricket is the perfect vehicle for Carnahan to impart his unique spin to create a high energy and hilarious one-man live show.

2023 has seen the game engulfed in melodrama – from with Bazball, the Wandering Bairstow, feral Lords, Mankads, the rain-drawn Ashes, public player stoushes, moral victories and the first ever Timed Out.

Denis stitches together these moments and a stack more, producing side-splitting songs and parodies that'll have cricket tragics belly laughing for days.

Find out why sports broadcaster Jim Wilson declared Carnahan's performance: "It's brilliant. He's the Spinal Tap of Australian sport." While Aussie cricketing legend and former national captain Ian Chappell offers: "Great show. Really enjoyed it."
