Set to release their debut album 'Stoneage Romeos' on limited edition vinyl, Hoodoo Gurus continue the 40th anniversary celebrations of their seminal record with a national run of live shows.
Released March 1984, 'Stoneage Romeos' built on the Gurus strong live presence with a slew of singles like 'Leilani', 'Tojo', and 'I Want You Back' helping the album register record sales at the time. While the album's third single 'My Girl' remains a treasured favourite amongst the band's fan base. After reaching #29 on the Australian Album Chart, 'Stoneage Romeos' went on to win Best Debut Album at the 1984 Countdown Awards.
The Back To The Stoneage tour will see the band play 'Stoneage Romeos' album in full followed by a selection of hit songs and deeper-dive cuts. The run of shows travels to Wollongong, Newcastle, Central Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Perth November-December.
"'Stoneage Romeos' was a pivotal album for us and many of its songs have remained live favourites ever since," singer-guitarist Dave Faulkner says.
"It'll be great to play some of those 'less-travelled' songs from it on this tour – even though that means we'll be playing longer sets to fit everything else in as well. Hah! To my mind that's a win-win situation."
Mainstays on the live scene for four-plus decades and influential to multiple new generation of artists that have arrived after them, Hoodoo Gurus boast ten ARIA Top 20 albums.
Special guests on the tour are Tumbleweed joining the Gurus in Sydney and Wollongong, alt-rockers Dallas Crane in Newcastle, Melbourne and Adelaide. GANGgajang, Spy v Spy and Allniters will share the stage with the Gurus in Central Coast. Spy v Spy will also appear in Canberra and at the Coliseum in Sydney.
Rounding out the special guests are Brisbane's Screamfeeder at all three Queensland shows and Perth's power-pop trio Rinehearts playing for a home crowd.
'Stoneage Romeos' limited edition vinyl is released 17 May, 2024. Pre-order it.
