Hockey Dad will celebrate in horrifying style the release of their new album, 'Brain Candy', with a 'zombie apocalypse' launch event, Alive At The Drive-In, in their home town Wollongong.
"It's super exciting to be able to play a show again. The drive-in aspect will make it such a new experience for everybody," the duo of Billy Fleming and Zach Stephenson says."The fact we can bring back live music in this way is so cool. It's a mixture of old-school entertainment crossed with a weird, futuristic apocalypse vibe."
Fans will experience the event in a similar vein to a drive-in movie theatre and watch from the comfort and safety of their own car with audio blasted via FM radio broadcast.
The event at Bulli Showground (31 July) will be staged in full compliance with the state's public health act, and the only exception of leaving a car will be for toilet breaks.
Joining Hockey Dad will be fellow Wollongong natives The Pinheads who have been back in their home studio, dubbed 'The Shed', working on their next body of work. The epic surf doco 'Rage 3' will also screen on the big screen, while there are additional surprises still to be announced.
Punters better act quick to snare their place at Alive At The Drive-In with a limit of 400 car spots.
