Hilltop Hoods’ Suffa, Pressure and DJ Debris returned home to Adelaide (17 August) to put on yet another enormous show.
People spilled out the back doors for the general admission area as the Hoods entered the stage at Adelaide Entertainment Centre. The crowd got behind them from the minute the lights dimmed, and ‘The Great Expanse’ intro only further encouraged screams of excitement.
Standing on the speakers at the front of the stage, the boys wasted no time starting the night out with a bang, jumping from song to song with no room to breathe in between.

They opened with 'Chase That Feeling', followed closely by new hit ‘Leave Me Lonely’ and, of course, smash hits 'The Nosebleed Section' and ‘1955’.
Adelaide embraces these guys as our very own hip hop legends, and the sold-out auditorium spoke for itself. “We are the Hilltop Hoods and it is a f...ing pleasure to be home.”
It is amazing to discover old favourites in a new light when performed on stage; I had the thrill of revisiting 2006's ‘The Hard Road’ and 2014's ‘Won’t Let You Down’; before they indulged in the near perfect track ‘Sell It All, Run Away’ from 2019's album ‘The Great Expanse’, which leant its name to this tour and allowed us to experience and celebrate several of their newest tracks, such as ‘Be Yourself’, ‘Exit Sign’ and ‘Counterweight’.

The new album has a fairly different flavour of Australian hip hop, compared to their older and better recognised tracks. This time 'round, they have seemingly switched it up to offer a more relaxed, lazy Sunday backyard vibe – but it was just as well received as the tracks that have been featured on radios for years.
The night drew to a close with 'Rattling The Keys To The Kingdom' and an encore performance of ‘Cosby Sweater’ complete with colourful strobe lighting, hearts pounding and arms punching towards the ceiling in unison.
