Renowned for their authentic and archaic instrumentation (that ranges from rattles and ritual bells to human bones and throat singing), experimental ritual collective Heilung will tour Australia for the first time in 2023.
With members from Denmark, Norway, and Germany, Heilung's folk-based music is rooted in texts and runic inscriptions from Germanic peoples of the Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Viking Age."Dear friends in Australia. We will finally make the travel down under to you next year for two exclusive rituals in Melbourne and Sydney."
After releasing their debut album 'Ofnir' in 2015, the trio's success was birthed at Castlefest in 2017 for the now-legendary debut of their live ritual that was captured on video (and watched almost 8 million times since).
Heilung released their third studio album 'Drif' in August this year. "All the songs on our (just released) third album 'Drif' have their own stories," adds Heilung throat singer and one of the band's three composers, Kai Uwe Faust.
The band's music, which they self-describe as an 'amplified history from early medieval northern Europe', has been featured in hit series 'Game Of Thrones' and 'Vikings' as well as Robert Eggers 2022 film 'The Northman'.
