After 12 years of the Parkway Drive street sign constantly getting stolen, the Byron Council have finally come up with (a) way to make sure it never gets taken again.

That's the report direct from the horse's mouth. Well at least the official Parkway Drive Instagram account.

Byron Bay Shire Council has finally given up replacing the street sign which is repeatedly nicked by trophy seekers. A spokesperson said the sign for the iconic street was stolen by fans about six times a year.

The band posted an image showing the street name is now spray painted onto the road instead. The measure is aimed at finally defeating fans who have, over the years, circumvented measures by Council which have included security bolts and extra tall street poles.

The band takes its name from the street where their home rehearsal space and live venue, 'The Parkway House', was located.
