After receiving glowing praise for her two previous singles (2020 cuts 'Mary' and 'Walk My Way' – the latter having being streamed almost 300k times on Spotify), Melbourne-based, folk-pop singer-songwriter Harper Bloom returns with her newest single 'Shaky Bones'.
The BIGSOUND 50 2020 artist has crafted a colonial punk-ish, rumbling folk ballad that careens along with a whimsical charm that'll have your face smiling and fingers strumming to the melody."This song was written in Torquay last year between lockdowns," Harper says, who recorded 'Shaky Bones' with Australian producer Benjamin McCarthy (G-Flip).
"It was a perfect sunny day, and I was sitting on the beach watching this couple who were behaving like friends that wanted to be lovers, but neither seemed confident enough to make the first move.
"It reminded me of times when I've been so in awe of people but too scared to ever let them know. I feel like you get so nervous and excited by the mystery of it all that it makes your bones shake. Well, it does for me anyway!”
'Shaky Bones' will feature on Bloom's debut EP 'Faith, Sex & Skin' that's due in June.
Bloom has teamed with award-winning director David Hansen to create a nostalgic-drenched video for 'Shaky Bones'.
"I told David how I wrote the song in Torquay when I was people watching on the beach," begins Harper.
"So we decided we wanted to bring to life a nostalgic and fun '70s-style, beach-themed music video.
"We tried our best to incorporate scenes that we thought represented an ideal and timeless summers day in the '70s with the person you fancy."
Next month, Harper will tour the east coast for four shows with stops in Brisbane, Sydney (early and late shows) and Melbourne. Tickets on sale now.
