2014 has seen Norweigen muso, DJ and producer Kygo become one of the most sought after artists of the year. With his roots in classical piano, we’ve watched him turn chart-topping tracks (notably Coldplay, M8, Kyla La Grange) into slinky, sly dance masterpieces.
Dusky's influences range from classical and jazz to avant-garde electronica, bringing audiences musical depth rather than genre restrictions. They’re known for acclaimed warehouse style tracks “It’s Not Enough” and “Nobody Else”.
Lee Foss is coming back to Australia in 2014. Renowned for his mixes, hear him weave classic house, 90s hip hop, 80s electro and Detroit techno when he takes to the stage at Harbourlife. Lee Foss founded the acclaimed Hot Creations label with Jamie Jones, which has seen releases from Robert James, Danny Daze, Alexis Raphael and fellow Harbourlife artist Miguel Campbell (just to name a few). Described by DJ Mag a few years ago as “one of the most talented new forces in modern dance music today”, his reputation boomed, re-writing the rulebook of how to make evocative and emotive house music.
Since Classixx's breakout 2009 single “I’ll Get You”, the duo has gone on to do big things with the release of hit track “Holding On” and their most notable remix for Yacht’s “Psychic City”. They’ve also done epic remixes for Phoenix, Groove Armada, and Major Lazer. Last year saw them release their highly anticipated debut album ‘Hanging Gardens’ and the catchy single “All You’re Waiting For” featuring Nancy Whang (LCD Soundsystem).
After his Listen Out appearance last year, Miguel Campbell was immediately picked up by the much-lauded Hot Creations crew, and went on to do a full length LP and numerous remixes in the process. After dedicating himself to house music, he immersed himself in the French house scene, with Daft Punk and Fred Falke named as some of his key influences.
Get ready to dance to tropical house with Thomas Jack at Harbourlife 2014. He’s renowned for combining house with jazz sounds, audiences will hear beautifully synchronised instrumentals with saxophone, flute, violin and trumpet. His two biggest tracks on Soundcloud are remixes of "Little Talks" by Of Monsters & Men and "Atlas Hands" by Benjamin Francis Leftwich, both hitting over 2.5 million plays. At only 20 years old, Thomas Jack has already made his mark in dance music, and we predict BIG THINGS for the young DJ.
House legend, Mark Farina, needs no introduction as one of the most iconic house DJs of this generation. Farina is a big Harbourlife favourite, having played back in 2005 and 2012. Seems the feeling is mutual, when he sees an image of the Opera House and harbour, he says "I instantly remember playing in such a beautiful location, to such a warm and wonderful crowd that understands proper electronic music. Harbourlife set the bar for quality very high... Proud to be returning."
