Gympie Music Muster Review 2014

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The campfires have been put out, the tent pegs pulled and a whole host of happy campers have returned home from their journey to the Amamoor Creek State Forest, with fond memories of what will no doubt go down as the best Gympie Music Muster to date.

With over 50,000 punters turned out of the Muster (from the 28th to the 31st August) to enjoy music, dancing, food, poetry, good and drinks, to say the largest charitable music and camping festival in Australia was a hoot would be an understatement.

Over 120 artists graced the stages over the four days and the fine weather held itself together from day one. Country giants like Kasey Chambers (who played her latest album live for the first time), Lee Kernaghan, Sara Storer, John Williamson, Adam Harvey and The McCylmonts were joined by a diverse range of artists from different genres like Themla Plum, Josh Pyke and Bob Evans.

GympieMusicMusterCome Saturday and the Muster was in full swing with thousands rocking up for the weekend of festivities. But the most incredible story from the day was when organisers and charity punter 'Buy A Bale' provided tickets and transport for a hundred farmers from the South Burnett region who have been struggling severely with drought conditions. Bringing them out for a day of fun, laughter, free beer and a private performance by Sara Storer was the least they could do.

Wrapping-up the Woodstock-for-country-music-fans, Sara Storer made a final appeal for donations to drought stricken farmers throughout Australia. Finishing up performances, the modern Slim Dusty, John Williamson, took the main stage with a string of crowd-pleasing hits.

All-in-all it was the number one bush bash that punters look forward to, and can't wait for the following year!
