Guy Sebastian will host this year's ARIA Awards ceremony, the four-time ARIA Award winner a perfect fit for the role.
Between his top five appearance at Eurovision 2015, to his role as coach on 'The Voice', the Australian singer has cemented himself as a key figure in the local music industry.
Sebastian is an Australian success story, having won the inaugural 'Australian Idol 'competition. He has gone on to an illustrious music career, performing around the world and with such talent as Brian McKnight, Robin Thicke, Steve Cropper, John Mayer, Jordin Sparks, Eve and Lupe Fiasco.
It's not only his musical chops that have earned him this position. The performer also heads up a charity, The Sebastian Foundation, that's focused on enriching the lives of less fortunate members of society by providing 'a little bit of the warmth and benefit of family, where it might be missing through under-privilege, serious illness or domestic violence'.
This year he has been awarded an Order of Australia medal for his outstanding achievements and community service, an honour which he says brought him to tears.
His latest single 'Choir', which has been the #1 most-played song on Australian radio for 6 consecutive weeks, has garnered over 14 million streams worldwide since its release in June.
Chief Executive for ARIA, Dan Rosen is excited to have the music icon hosting. “ARIA is honoured and excited to have Guy Sebastian as our host for the 2019 ARIA Awards.
“He is one of Australia’s most talented artists and has had an incredible last 12 months. Guy will be an amazing host to lead the celebration of another great year of Australian music.”
