The Gold Coast's annual gathering of country music lovers, Groundwater Country Music Festival returns in 2023 headlined by a living legend of Australian country music – Lee Kernaghan.
Set to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year (20-22 October), the free three-day music extravaganza nestled right on the beach in the heart of Broadbeach's dining precinct features a line-up of the Australia's finest country music stars alongside a handful of international arrivals.Joining Kernaghan will be APRA & ARIA Award-winning Gold Coast local Casey Barnes, two-time ARIA nominated Amber Lawrence (who performed at the inaugural Groundwater CMF and won a Golden Guitar for Female Artist Of The Year earlier this year), Country Music Awards of Australia 2020 New Talent Of The Year winner Blake O'Connor and Newcastle's Americana, alt. country artist Melody Moko ('Last Cigarette').
"I'm so excited to be coming back to the Groundwater festival," Amber says. "I remember being lucky enough to play the very first festival in 2013 and many times since.
"It's been five years since I last played this wonderful festival – and in that time there's been a whole lot of new songs and albums for us to bring with us to the Gold Coast. We can't wait!"
'Don't Come Lookin' singer, Jackson Dean is one of the hottest emerging country artists in America currently; he'll venture to Australia for the first time alongside West Virginia's ten-time Grammy Award-winning country music legends Asleep At The Wheel – who bring 50-plus years and 26 albums experience to Broadbeach in 2023.
"I know I'm not meant to have favourites but when it comes to Groundwater it's definitely at the top of the list," shares Casey, "and I'm so honoured to be part of yet another amazing line-up to celebrate the 10th anniversary.
"This was one of the first festivals to give me a start back in the day and I'll never forget that.
"To think how far we've come since then is pretty crazy. Plus, there's nothing better than playing in front of a home-town crowd. See you guys for one heck of a party in October."
With more acts to be added at later date, other highlights of the first artist announce include Caitlin Barnett, The Pony Boys, Georgia State Line, Round Mountain Girls, Hinterland and Pete Cullen & The Hurt.
