Punk rock icons, Green Day are bringing their Saviors tour to Australia in 2025.
Set to undertake their biggest live production ever, the trio of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool will headline stadiums in Melbourne, Sydney and Gold Coast the first week of March.The Saviors tour will see Green Day perform both of their seminal albums, 'Dookie' and 'American Idiot', in full along with tracks from the new album 'Saviors' and cuts from their vast collection of hits.
"We've never been more excited to unleash new music than with 'Saviors'," declare Green Day, "a record that's meant to be rocked live, together – and we can not wait to return to Australia, it's been way too long. So let's thrash." 'Saviors', the band's 14th studio album, features first single 'The American Dream Is Killing Me' and 'Look Ma, No Brains!'.
Further good news for skaters boys and girls, with fellow Californian rockers AFI ('Miss Murder', 'Girl's Not Grey') joining the tour for their first Australian shows since 2017.
Released in 1994, 'Dookie' was Green Day's major label debut (on Reprise Records), and features such classics as 'Basket Case', 'When I Come Around', 'Welcome To Paradise' and 'Longview' – it also landed at #1 in Australia.
A decade later, Green Day dropped 'American Idiot', their concept album dubbed a punk-rock opera that would win Best Rock Album at the 2005 Grammy Awards and latter be turned into a Broadway musical that has toured globally. Both a documentary and feature-film adaptation are also planned.
Alongside the title track, 'American Idiot' also features such iconic cuts as 'Wake Me Up When September Ends', 'Holiday / Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' and 'Jesus Of Suburbia' – the latter also the name of the album's adolescent anti-hero expressing disillusionment and dissension in the post 9/11 and Iraq War.
