Throughout November, live music will be heard across the entire state of New South Wales with Great Southern Nights bringing more than 900 gigs to 300-plus venues across 130 towns and suburbs.
A NSW Government initiative (working with ARIA) that will see more than 2,500 artists and bands take to stages, Great Southern Nights is geared to kick-start the recovery of the live music, hospitality and tourism industries in a COVID-safe environment."This is an extremely important moment for the Australian music industry," ARIA CEO Dan Rosen says.
"Great Southern Nights is an innovative and effective way of getting artists back on stages safely and ensuring money starts flowing back through the live-music ecosystem – to artists, venues, agents, tour managers and sound and lighting crews."
A.B. Original, Amy Shark, Birds Of Tokyo, Horrorshow, Hot Dub Time Machine, In Hearts Wake, Josh Pyke, Matt Corby, Missy Higgins, Ocean Alley, Ruel, Tash Sultana, Fanny Lumsden, Vera Blue and The Veronicas are just a small sample of the line-up of musical acts confirmed for Great Southern Nights.
"I'm psyched that the ARIAs, working with the NSW Government, have come together to fund 1,000 gigs across the state in November, which is mental. . . this is going to be killer," Birds Of Tokyo's Ian Kenny says.
While Tash Sultana adds: "This feels like Christmas Day to musicians in 2020; stoked we can see a little closer into the future of our careers again as a live stream didn't quite cut it for me."
