Once more set to kickstart live music in NSW, Great Southern Nights returns in 2022 with 500 gigs planned across the state (18 March to 10 April).
First staged in late 2020 to boost the entertainment, hospitality and tourism industries during the initial recovery phase of COVID-19, Great Southern Nights will again act as a bridge back to the old normal. The first round of artists announced today is a who's who of the Australian music industry: Allday, Amy Shark, Baker Boy, Briggs, Courtney Barnett, Crooked Colours, Dune Rats, DZ Deathrays, Fanny Lumsden, Jessica Mauboy, Julia Stone, Kasey Chambers, Kate Miller-Heidke, Masked Wolf, Meg Mac, Middle Kids, Missy Higgins, Northlane, Ruby Fields, Sarah Blasko, Skegss, The Veronicas, Violent Soho and Wafia.
There are also plenty of classic names on the bill: Archie Roach, Casey Donovan, Daryl Braithwaite, Hard-Ons, Hoodoo Gurus, Ian Moss and Troy Cassar-Daley, James Reyne, Jimmy Barnes, Sneaky Sound System, Spiderbait, The Church and The Whitlams.
A NSW Government initiative delivered by Destination NSW in partnership with the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), a large portion of the Great Southern Nights 2022 gigs will be staged in regional areas of the state.
"We are thrilled to be a part of this incredible line-up bringing live music back again to NSW," Fanny Lumsden says.
"Narrabeen! It has been ages since we have played the Northern Beaches. So keen," says Skegss.
CEO Annabelle Herd says Great Southern Nights is an ideal stage to reignite the NSW live music scene.
"Great Southern Nights will have artists and crew back to doing what they love and do best – put on a show for an audience and transporting them through the joy of live music.
"The concept was such a huge success in 2020 and exactly what our industry needed, so it's no surprise to see our best talent wanting to be involved in 2022.
"We're proud to partner in this project to get artists, the industry and NSW live music venues back on their feet."
Great Southern Nights will be staged throughout NSW 18 March to 10 April, 2022. Tickets on sale.
