Despite 2024 being a bleak and desolate year for Australian festivals, there remain a few glimmers of hope especially for rock, metal and punk heads as Good Things Festival unleash an earth-shattering 2024 line-up.
One of Australia's largest travelling music festival that descends on Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane the first week of summer, the 2024 instalment will be fronted by the legendary Korn, the nu metal legends a genre-defying juggernaut for 30 years with an endless catalogue of classics led by 'Freak On A Leash' and 'Coming Undone'.Good Things organisers will also unleash bittersweet-nostalgic feels when Sum 41 bid goodbye to their Australian fans on their last-ever Tour Of The Setting Sum tour down under. Milwaukee's favourite alternative folk punks, festival mainstays Violent Femmes, who are loaded with anthems across their 40-year career, are also headed to Good Things in 2024.
Then there's German heavy arena sensations Electric Callboy ('Hypa Hypa', 'We Got The Moves'), and alternative rocker Billy Corgan (the Smashing Pumpkins' frontman to be supported by Aussie blues rockers The Delta Riggs).
The international arrivals also include American heavy metal, sludge veterans Mastodon, thrash metaller Kerry King (Slayer), New Jersey punk rockers The Gaslight Anthem (who return to Australia for the first time in almost a decade), and American riot grrrl punk rock band L7.
On the homefront, Jet continue their recent resurgence (celebrating the 20th anniversary of their seminal album 'Get Born' with multiple sold-out tours) that was culminated with them being elevated to the ARIA Hall of Fame, while The Living End will perform their only Aussie 2024 shows at Good Things.
Other highlights of the bill include Northlane, Bowling For Soup, Alpha Wolf, Sleeping With Sirens, The Butterfly Effect and 311 as well as a stack of emerging locals.
2024 also marks the return of the talented Stage 666 artists and their carnivalesque Freak Show lounge. Witness the knife-throwing, gravity-defying stunts of host Captain Ruin, or be amazed by Princess Tweedle Needle's daring feats of bodily transgression as the 'princess of pain' performs the 'human pincushion' act, skewering her flesh with glee, swinging a beer keg with her lady bits.
