The legacy of one of Sydney's dance and nightlife institutions lives on under a new name. Please welcome Hudson Ballroom, the club formerly known as Plan B.
Originally called GoodGod, the venue was bought by a group of friends when GoodGod closed last year, pooling their money in order to preserve the club's vibe, and keep the good times rolling. “For us, the priority was to keep the doors open to one of the few places you can still go for a dance and see a live, music gig,” says Clark Mak, part owner of Hudson Ballroom.
“We didn’t have time to work out all the details so we needed a 'Plan B' and the name stuck,” he explains. “We’ve since been working away to develop our own identity while continuing to host a diverse mix of artists and the venue’s long-running parties and welcoming so many new ones.
“We’re thrilled and honoured to keep this venue going as Hudson Ballroom.”
Working with Nathan Farrell Entertainment, whose client base includes iconic Sydney venues like The Basement and The Newtown Festival, Hudson Ballroom are poised to present an exciting roster of local and international artists. “We’re thrilled to be part of the new chapter of such an iconic Sydney music space,” Nathan Farrell says.
“We’ve had a great time working with Clark and his team through the Plan B phase of the venue and are now over the moon to be working with them to launch Hudson Ballroom.”
Hudson Ballroom will also continue to run their ever-popular Plan B club nights, including Rhythm Of The Night, Halfway Crooks, Player Haters Club, IZMZ Girls and Red Bull Sound Select. In further good news, long-running house kitchen, Belly Bao will remain in the space, dishing up inspired Asian street food.
