King Gizzard The Wizard Lizard have taken home the $50,000 grant from Carlton Dry Global Music Grant, and they've already got big plans on how to spend it.
Drummer and whatever-other-instrument-is-needed Eric Moore said that the group plans to make several international trips over the next year including the US and Canada in May. Having completed an Aussie tour recently, it seems like the perfect time to spread their wings and gain some more international fans.
The Carlton Dry Global Music Grant is in its 2nd year, and was created to give an Australian musician or band the chance to travel and prove their mettle overseas. If you ask any local musician, you'll find out just how much good a grant of that size can do for the right people.
“Having the opportunity to travel and perform overseas will be a huge help to our band. We are a self-sufficient seven piece that has a lot of expenses. Without the grant I'm not sure we would be able to take the wonderful opportunities that have been offered to us," Moore said.
