After a 12-year break from recording and touring to raise her family, multi award-winning country music queen Gina Jeffreys returned in 2019 with her album 'Beautiful Tangle'.
2022 has seen Gina once again grace the stage with a string of shows. Gina now ventures back to Queensland for a special acoustic performance of 'Beautiful Tangle' at Redland Performing Arts Centre this month. The album is a stunning collection of personal stories that come straight from the heart, and showcases the rich and distinctive voice that has won over audiences ever since Gina's award-winning career began more than 30 years ago.
"I've written every song, some with some of my favourite songwriters – and every song is a page out of my life," she says. "It's pretty organic, honest, raw and kind of stripped back and naked."
Gina first delighted audiences with her music as the winner of Star Maker in 1991, taking over the mantle from Keith Urban.
In 1994, she opened for Johnny Cash on his national tour winning the hearts of Australia. "From this moment on, things really changed for me," Gina says.
"I literally went from singing to three or four people in a dimly lit Sydney wine bar to standing in front of 15,000 people a night before Johnny came out.
"That tour really introduced me to a fan base I would never have met and I'm so truly grateful for that.
"Touring with Johnny at such a young age taught me so much. Just to stand on the side of the stage every night and watch how he touched people's hearts changed me."
During the last few years of lockdown, being unable to tour, Gina has been madly writing songs with many artists, having a bunch of songs in the top 10 with artists like Max Jackson, The Vixens Of Fall, and Courtney Keil.
Now is your chance to enjoy Gina live in concert as she performs her latest songs plus her old hits and fan favourites. She will be joined by special guest, award-winning producer and musician (and husband) Rod McCormack with his highly-acclaimed bluegrass album 'Fingerprints' – already a hit in the USA.
Also joining the line-up will be singer-songwriter Max Jackson, who won the 2022 Toyota Star Maker Award, performing material from her debut album 'Life Of The Party'.
Gina Jeffreys plays Redland Performing Arts Centre (Brisbane) 11 December.
