A song focused on the chemical reaction that occurs when meeting someone new, Dande and The Lion's latest release is the buzzy-pop indie rocker 'Children Of The Hour'.
A collaboration with ARIA-nominated producer Xavier Dunn (Jack River), the band recorded the track at Sydney's Dunn Studios, with mixing and mastering by Klaus Hill (Diplo, Snakehips)."'Children Of The Hour' was inspired by a play I read by Lilian Hellman – 'The Children's Hour' – that was later adapted into a film starring Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine," Natassa Zoe says.
"Hellman's story played a part in helping to initiate my songwriting process and I started to reflect on how this related to experiences in my own life at that time.
"'Children Of The Hour' centres around the push and pull within an intimate relationship; meeting someone who takes you completely off-guard and shakes up your world in a totally unexpected way.
"So much so, that you start creating excuses to see them, thinking about a future with them, yet despite all those feelings it never quite matches up; for whatever reason you're both just out of touch."
Ahead of a run of NSW shows in April including an appearance at The Gum Ball, here we get to know each member of Dande and The Lion via their preferred adult beverage.
Red Corvette
The red ones do go faster! Happy-Cocktail-Hour Abbey is all about fun and speaking a million words a minute in all coherent sentences; full of excitement and smiles. Abbey is vibrantly fluent in both piano and guitar, with an amazing, powerful vocal range; an absolute weapon on stage and in the recording studio.JD and Coke
When Chris isn't hitting the tubs, you'll most likely find him wandering the Australian bushland terrain photographing sunsets and sleeping under the stars, all in preparation before his next onslaught of drumming expertise is required. Unless the football is on. . . then we won't see him for days; weeks even.Japanese Whiskey
Under the bright lights this rock n rolla shines on any stage. Apart from wielding her guitar and spoken poetry, Tass is also a keen actor, writer and director. She is a stunt double and a black belt in karate, and known in the industry for her mean roundhouse kick. Definitely one who lives by the Bushido code, Tass appreciates a well made whiskey.
Wine, Whiskey, Beer, Spirits, everything
Our resident mongrel rascal bassist, Nick, is full of random thoughts and ordered chaos. We reckon he was born in the wrong decade, he reckons he might be Batman (see what I mean?).He's a bit old school (he thinks sentimental), using DVD and tape players and buying CDs, and most likely will run his '96 car (aka The Beast) into the ground before buying another one.
