Calling all MCs (except the rubbish ones) — you've got just over a week left to get your entries into the Sprung Hip Hop Festival / Real Talk MC Throwdown comp.
This is the comp's sophomore year, after a strong showing at the inaugural Sprung event last year. With last year's winner Kudos on the official Sprung lineup this year, there's even more incentive to take your shot.
Entries are open to MCs of all ages. To be eligible for the comp, just upload a video of yourself rapping. The video can run between 45 and 90 seconds — no shorter, no longer. The video can be any quality, as long as the sound is audible. All entries must be in by September 28; 20 semi-finalists will then be divided into 2 heats, consisting of 2 x 16 bar verses performed by each MC...
Heat 1 (18+) - Thu Oct 4 (Juicy @ Coniston Lane)
Heat 2 (All Ages) - Sat Oct 27 (Real Talk - Guard Ya Grill, Elements Collective)
3 winners from each heat will advance to the final at Sprung Hip Hop Festival (RNA Showgrounds) on Saturday November 10. The remaining 14 semi-finalists will go into a wildcard draw for the final 2 spots, decided by a public vote via social media.
