Future Music and Mushroom Group believed to be K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
Mere weeks out from the announcement of the 2014 line-up, Future Music Festival (FMF) has announced a strategic alliance with The Mushroom Group, Australia's largest independent music and entertainment group, and its subsidiary, concert promoter Frontier Touring.
From September 1, FMF will team with the Mushroom Group and Frontier Touring to present the flagship tour along with its little sister, Good Life Festival (U18s) and a number of affiliated artist tours. The arrangement will reportedly introduce new ventures in 2014 that the alliance claims will significantly impact the festival and live music landscape in the Australasian region.
The traditionally EDM-focussed FMF is expected to diversify as a result of the access to Mushroom's resources and experience.
Michael Gudinski, Chairman of the Mushroom Group, said: “It is with great excitement we announce our involvement with Future Music and Good Life Festivals. Our involvement with the festivals will fill a gap within the Mushroom Group that has existed to date.
“Future Music Festival was an early pioneer of the EDM genre and I believe our combined forces can take the festival to new heights, with an even greater focus on the fan experience and the addition of some exciting new innovations.”
Brett Robinson, Festival Director of Future Music Festival, said: “The Future is very bright indeed! With the confidence of a brand new alliance the Mushroom Group, Future Music Festival is poised for its biggest ever season. The strength of the relationship will become apparent when we announce our 2014 line up in a few weeks time.”
The first public announcement from the venture is scheduled for mid-September with the line-up for March 2014’s Future Music Festival. This will be closely followed by the line-up announcement of the Southeast Asian edition of the festival, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur in the same month.
Following sell-outs in Melbourne and Sydney in 2013, Future Music’s Good Life Festival is set to expand to Brisbane and Perth in 2014, doubling the size of what is already the country’s largest underage event series.
Ticket prices will be "the best value in the market" and incentive programs such as ‘book now and pay later’ and ‘Future Fans’ will continue to be offered.
