Closed as part of the federal government's response to the coronavirus crisis, Fremantle icon Mojos Bar is facing an uncertain future despite delivering live music from the same space for almost 50 years.
After investing heavily in sound proofing the venue last year, and despite 'essential help from our supportive landlords', last week Mojos launched a GoFundMe page 'to provide funds to pay overheads and liabilities outstanding such that we can then be in a position to reopen when it is safe to do so'.The little bar that can has raised $50k of a targeted $60k. 'Immense gratitude and respect to each individual who has supported by sharing and/or contributing,' Mojos posted today to their Facebook page.
'There's immense pride among the custodians of Mojo's Bar to have reached out to you in this time of need and be met with overwhelming support.
'It's extremely beautiful to see how important Mojos Bar is to those in Freo, WA, Australia - and the world.'
All contributions over $75 from those in Australia will earn a one-off pressing 'I helped save Mojos' t-shirt.
