Four Must-Haves CaelWhip Needs When Entering The Studio

CaelWhip is a rapper from Sunshine Coast, Australia.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Sunshine Coast rapper CaelWhip's newest release is the single '2 Bucks A Litre', which follows his 2022 track 'I Don't Wanna Work'.

CaelWhip turns his attention to real life issues we're all having to face; the pressures and constant in-flux nature that comes with having to navigate adulthood.

"'2 Bucks A Litre' is my take on the rising costs and pressures of modern life. I use my music and writing as an output a lot of the time," CaelWhip says.

"I was at home listening to beats; nothing was really working out, and through my frustration, just started yelling 'two bucks a litre, I'm trying to keep up', which made me laugh at its catchiness.

"I continued capturing that energy and wrote this track (and my next release) all in one."

Here, CaelWhip takes us inside the ropes sharing the four things he simply can't go without when he hits the booth/ studio.

Tea

First of all, there's no way you'd ever catch me in the studio without a cup of tea. I don't care what anyone has to say about that. Tea is my happy place and I need to be in my happy place to create the best art possible.

Crew

Secondly, I most definitely need my crew with me. It doesn't matter how big, it's usually just Nixy by my side anyway. But it's definitely worth having the hype up or even just someone to bounce some ideas off.

Nature

Thirdly, this isn't necessarily what I need IN the studio but around, and that is some greenery. Don't park me up inside a city booth and expect me to do my best. I always need some trees.

Speakers

Lastly, I think this goes without saying but I'm going to say it anyway because it is extremely vital and that is a solid set of speakers.

I can't even hear my music through headphones sometimes, I need to know what it sounds like out in the real world before I get in my head about it.

Bonus round: when a beach escape is needed, these are the top three Sunshine Coast beaches CaelWhip jets to.

First/Second Bay

Without a doubt, my number one beach on the Sunshine Coast would have to be First/Second Bay. Referenced in my debut single and coastal town cult classic '4573', the bays of Coolum will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Stumers Creek Beach

Home to the annual Shacknato wake skate competition, Stumers Creek is the local dog beach where the iconic Stumers Creek meets the beach. Overall great spot from high school beach parties to a casual stroll with Fido on a Sunday afternoon, Stumers Creek has got it all.

Yaroomba Beach

Ybar is my debut beach experience when I was a baby and is home to the notorious beach exit 88, made famous by Chats dropout Pricey in his song... you guessed it, '88'.
