Foster The People track 'Pumped Up Kicks' has reportedly been pulled from US airwaves as a result of the Connecticut school massacre.

The track dominated the last two summers, but the sugary, irresistible tune meant most people didn't catch the dark lyrics, which told the story of a school shooting.

One line reads, "He found a six-shooter gun in his dad's closet, with the box of fun things... he's coming for you, yeah he's coming for you," while the chorus consisted of the lyrics: "All the other kids with the pumped up kicks / You better run, better run, outrun my gun / All the other kids with the pumped up kicks / You better run, better run, faster than my bullet."

Suspected gunman Adam Lanza, of course, killed twenty young children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown last week, before turning the gun on himself. His mother, who was also a victim, owned the gun he used in his rampage.

Canoe reports American radio bosses have tipped their hat to the atrocity by removing the track from station playlists across the country. Ke$ha's 'Die Young' was also pulled.

Foster The People frontman Mark Foster has said that the track is "about a kid that basically is losing his mind and is plotting revenge. He's an outcast. I feel like the youth in our culture are becoming more and more isolated. It's kind of an epidemic."
