American indie folk-rock band, Big Thief have dropped another gorgeous single from their forthcoming double album 'Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You' (DNWMIBIY).
Spread across 20 enchanting ballads and poetic songs, 'DNWMIBIY' is a 'rambling account' of the group's musical production the previous two years.The four-piece – Adrianne Lenker, Max Oleartchik, Buck Meek, and James Krivchenia – wrote and recorded new material at several locations including Upstate New York, Topanga Canyon, the Rocky Mountains, and Tucson in Arizona.
After 5 months they had accrued 45 fully-formed songs that were then whittled down to the final 20 that appear on 'DNWMIBIY' (that's scheduled for release next month), with the record self-produced by drummer Krivchenia.
"One of the things that bonds us together as a band is pure magic," vocalist-guitarist Lenker says.
"I think we all have the same guide and none of us have ever spoken what it is because we couldn't name it, but somehow, we are all going for the same thing, and when we hit it. . . we all know it's it.
"But none of us to this day, or maybe ever, will be able to articulate in words what the 'it' is. Something about it is magic to me."
'DNWMIBIY' is the band's follow-up record to 2019 release 'Two Hands'.
