Foals, SBTRKT & The Avalanches Highlight Secret Sounds' Two-Day New Year Holiday Vibrations Party In Brisbane

Foals join Declan McKenna and Griff in Brisbane 2 January, 2023.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

From the team who brings you Splendour, Secret Sounds have gifted Brisbane a two-day holiday vibrations getaway with two massive line-ups in the new year.

To be staged at The Fortitude Music Hall 2-3 January, UK indie rock lords Foals (who won Best Group at 2020 Brit Awards, have scooped up another 5 NME Awards, while also headlining such acclaimed festivals as Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds) will headline the first evening.

With founding bassist Walter Gervers rejoining Foals earlier this year, they'll be joined by English indie rock, dream pop crooner Declan McKenna serenading audiences with such bangers as 'Brazil', 'Why Do You Feel So Down', and 'British Bombs' as well as English pop musician Griff, who'll showcase why she was named the Rising Star at the 2021 Brit Awards with such hits as 'Black Hole', 'Good Stuff', 'One Night' and 'Walk'.

While Sycco highlights why she's one of the hottest emerging talents in Australia with her arsenal of songs: 'Dribble', 'Ripple', 'Peacemaker' and 'Nicotine'; alongside local emerging artist FELONY. who earned a spot in the triple j's Unearthed High Yearbook as well as a nomination for the 2023 Queensland Music Awards (Youth Award).

The second night of amazing musical moments will be led by one of Australia's most influential electronica outfits ever, The Avalanches who have been mesmerising generations of fans since their legendary 2000 release 'Since I Left You' while remaining commercially relevant since their return in the mid '10s with such bangers as 'Because I'm Me', 'The Divine Chord' and 'If I Was A Folkstar'.

English electronic chameleon SBTRKT will also bring such festival moments as 'Wildfire', 'Hold On' and 'Pharaohs' to the stage as well as English singer, and 2022 Brit Awards Rising Star, Holly Humberstone who shares her live favourites like 'Falling Asleep At The Wheel', 'Deep End' and 'Scarlett'.

On the local front MAY-A brings her own collection of hits like 'Apricots' and 'Time I Love To Waste', while one of the hottest names at BIGSOUND 2023 (his showcases drawing packed audiences) multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and songwriter Logan will open proceedings.
