In 2023 WOMADelaide will welcome two of the biggest names in global music when the mesmerisingly majestic Florence + The Machine and charming, exquisite sounds of Bon Iver headline the event.
Led by enigmatic singer Florence Welch, Florence + The Machine return to the Adelaide (after wowing 14,000 fans in 2019) with their 2022 album 'Dance Fever' that Florence described as "a fairytale in 14 songs".Fronted by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, Bon Iver return to Adelaide for the first time since 2009 with a performance that will span their entire four studio album discography. The band also broadened their own appeal when they joined Taylor Swift on her 2020 song 'Exile'.
Also confirmed as part of WOMADelaide's 2023 programme will be an Australian exclusive appearance from French company Gratte Ciel who return to WOMADelaide (after their 2018 run) performing 'Place des Anges (place of angels)' nightly.
Set to transform the Botanic Park into a 'magical wonderland of music, acrobatics and death-defying theatrics', 'Place des Anges' features 'feathered angels who dance and descend from high above the treetops and the audience in a celebratory ethereal ballet'.
"'Place des Anges' is truly one of the greatest aerial spectacles in the world. To be the only place where the company has performed outside of an urban environment, amongst natural surrounds in the middle of a music festival, makes their return five years on extra special," WOMADelaide Director, Ian Scobie says.
"Florence + The Machine, Bon Iver and Gratte Ciel are just three of the outstanding artists who will be part of WOMADelaide 2023 and we look forward to revealing more in October and November when our programme of around 70 groups is complete."
Early bird tickets on sale from 9am (local time) 26 August.
WOMADelaide takes place at Botanic Park (Adelaide), 10-13 March, 2023.
