Already headed to Australia next year on an arena tour (that also includes an appearance at WOMADelaide), Florence + The Machine have extended their stay adding a Brisbane a day on the green date to the itinerary.
Florence + The Machine will be joined by American singer-songwriter King Princess, Brisbane indie rockers Last Dinosaurs and local dream-pop artist Hatchie at Sirromet Wines in Mount Cotton 18 March. It's been four years since Florence Welch and her genre-defying, multi award-winning band last toured Australia, the group returning with new music in the form of 2022 album 'Dance Fever' that was followed last month with a live album that was recorded at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
"To get out to perform these songs has been the most extraordinary experience," Florence says. "The connection with the audience and the catharsis is at a level I have never experienced before.
"Maybe it's because we all missed it so much. But people are bringing so much of themselves to these shows, I wanted to have a memory of 'Dance Fever' live."
Florence + The Machine is no stranger to a day on the green having previously played a concert in Geelong. "It was really special. Geelong was crazy – there were just so many people. I couldn't believe it," Florence says.
"I was really moved by it. It was a really beautiful thing. There were people as far as I could see; [Geelong] kind of had a Woodstock feeling to it – it was outdoors and it was a really incredible show."
Tickets on sale from 2pm (local time) on 3 November.
