Five Summer Festival Survival Tips With The Funk Hunters

The Funk Hunters
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The Funk Hunters are one of Canada's busiest electronic acts. They've taken their talents to some of the world's biggest music festivals, including Shambhala and Burning Man, so we figured they might have some tips about how to get the most out of your day.

1. Eat Something

Funk-Hunter-Tips-5

No matter how you're feeling, when the sun is about to go down, go eat dinner! It will be the fuel that keeps you going well past when the sun comes back up.

2. Alone Time

Funk-Hunter-Tips-2

Be on your own schedule. Festivals are about freedom and good music, so following around the wrong friends at a festival can lead to a bunch of wandering and little dancing. Try a solo afternoon, you'll be surprised at the new friends and new music you find!

3. Deluxe Camping

Funk-Hunter-Tips-3

If it’s a longer multi-day event with camping, make your campsite feel like home. Carpets, couches, good lighting, and even a mini DJ booth will turn your site into a pimpin’ living room and be the perfect hide away when you need a break from the stages or the sun!

4. Dress Sharp

Funky clothing is a must! A crazy custom T-shirt or hat is an easy route to go, but a full-on crazy costume is even better! It'll be the perfect conversation starter anywhere you roam, and you'll also probably make it into the festival's promo video for next year!

5. Stay Hydrated

Water... lots and lots of water. H20 will get you through any festival, from Burning Man to Australian doofs — water is the key!

The Funk Hunters perform at Earth Frequency Festival on Friday February 14.
