The track ties in the association of money and success that is often referred to as 'cake' in hip hop."So we made 'Cake' a while back just off some club ish you know. We heard all this music in the city and wanted to make something that we can play at the club that'll get the people moving. That's really where the song was born.
"Then Lino came in with the swag and blessed us with one of our most recognisable verses. The beat knocks hard and then that iconic hook."
The song was recorded written and arranged at the Rich Valentine studios.
