The pairing of Tama J. (vocals/ producer) and Haydn Martin (keyboard/producer), Sydney act JUNO have released their debut single titled 'Sleepwalker', which explores the complex themes of suffering from a mental illness and battling suicidal thoughts.
Tama and Haydn's story began during their first year of university in Wollongong, each studying a Creative Arts degree. Haydn was mixing an EP for the band TJ was in at the time. After a year abroad in Japan, Haydn returned home and started working with TJ on a new project that became JUNO. The two have been building a catalog of music and eating way too much Korean BBQ ever since.
"'Sleepwalker' delves into the lucidity of living with bipolar disorder and suicidal thoughts; the juxtaposition in the lyrics reflect the fluctuation of the mental state and hallucinations of dark thoughts.
"The idea for the single came from wanting to make a synthwave-style song with a spin on it; particularly TJ was inspired by the Kylie Minogue song 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' for the vocal melody and way it all seamlessly flows into each section."
For fans of Daft Punk, Tame Impala and Lime Cordiale, set aside four minutes of your day and give 'Sleepwalker' a spin; you'll thank yourself later.
