This week marks the final stages for nominations to be accepted for the 2022 Queensland Music Awards (QMAs).

With the deadline of 11:59pm EST Thursday 21 October, artists and bands can self-nominate their song or music video online.

"If there's one thing the last 12 months has shown us, it's that the talent coming out of this state is as strong as ever," says the QMAs.

"And after what the music industry has endured, not only will the 2022 QMAs shine a spotlight on Queensland's best music, it will be a celebration and acknowledgement of the incredible tenacity and passion shown by all of you.

"We've gathered more than 100 top Australian music industry professionals from labels, streaming services, artist management, booking agencies and more, to judge this year's nominations.

"So, is this your year to make Queensland music history? Nominate now and let's find out."

The 2021 QMAs were highlighted by Ball Park Music (Album Of The Year - 'Ball Park Music') and Sycco (Song Of The Year - 'Dribble'), while the QMA honour roll includes such names as The Jungle Giants, Amy Shark, Violent Soho, The Veronicas, Keith Urban, Kate Miller-Heidke, Cub Sport, DZ Deathrays, Busby Marou and Robert Forster.

Artists and filmmakers who have released songs and music videos between 1 December 2020 to 30 November 2021 are eligible to self-nominate in genre-based award categories: Blues/Roots, Children's Music, Contemporary Classical, Country, Electronic, Folk, Heavy, Hip Hop, Indigenous, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Youth (Ages 10-17), Soul/ Funk/ R’n’B and World.

Finalists from each category are automatically entered into major award categories Song Of The Year and Emerging Artist Of The Year, as well as the Regional and Remote Award.

"From household names Keith Urban, Amy Shark, and Sheppard, to emerging artists like Jesswar and Hope D, it's clear that the talent coming out of Queensland has never been stronger," QMusic's Kris Stewart.

The 2022 ceremony will return to the The Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley 29 March.
