The pairing of two of Australia's most acclaimed songwriters, Fanning Dempsey National Park are taking their live show to regional audiences this May.
The duo of Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey, the pair will kick off with a Great Southern Nights gig in Byron Bay early April, before picking up the remaining dates on 1 May in Cairns followed by Hobart, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Newcastle, Wollongong, Canberra, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast."Finally we are going to make our way around the country to do some shows in the regional areas," the duo posted. "We had such a ball on our mini city tour last year and we can't wait to bring it to the rest of you.
"Looking forward to meeting up with lots of friends and fans, old and new. Get in fast as these shows are all one offs. While you're at it, don't forget to check out our new song 'Blackstar' out today."
Not included on their debut album 'The Deluge' (that was released last August and was nominated for Best Adult Contemporary Album at 2024 ARIA Awards), 'Blackstar' was conceived during 'The Deluge' album sessions. "'Blackstar' went through a full cycle of styles before arriving fully formed," Fanning says, "as a minimalist, pop-rock tune.
"Sometimes when putting an album together you can deceive yourself into adding more 'stuff' to a song to make it sound different. Often, leaving that 'stuff' out is the key to making it work. . . just let the song be itself, as written, and step away from it. I think we only did a couple of takes of this one."
Tickets on sale from 10am (local time) on 23 January.
